In the Mondeo, it is in the head - this is so the ECU monitors the actual head temprature for the correct fuel- air mixture, it also means if the coolant runs dry it will protect the engine from overheating. so there is not actually a coolant temp sensor - but a head temp sensor. Most modern Fords are the same.
Jan 24, 2013 路 The Focus DCT transmission doesn't have a temperature sensor, instead, it uses a "virtual sensor", an algorithm that monitors electrical energy to each of the 2 clutch actuators, vehicle speed, engine rpm, ambient temperature, etc. The virtual sensor monitors how you are driving and how the clutches are being used.
